Charles Blackford

Tell City, Indiana Charles I. ""Butch"" Blackford, 70, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Tell City September 10, 1939 son of Charles W. and Germaine (Hess) Blackford. Butch was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Charmaine Sue Sprinkle. Butch was a 1957graduate of Tell City High School and attended Indiana University. He worked in construction most of his life. A former member of Loyal Order of the Moose and Tell City Historical Society, he enjoyed researching family genealogy, watching sports and was a history buff. He is survived by daughters, Barbara Mehne, Evansville, and Angela Hodges, Brownsburg; son, Christopher Blackford, Ypsilanti, MI; mother, Germaine Blackford, Tell City; brothers, Clarke Blackford, Tell City and Craig Blackford, Newburgh; grandchildren, Lauren and Jillian Mehne. There will be a memorial service at 7:00 PM on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Lee Brown will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 until service time on Sunday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association.
