Catherine Newton

Tell City, Indiana Catherine A. Newton, 77, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City. Catherine was born in Tell City on February 27, 1928, the daughter of the late Clifford T. Richardson and Dewiebell (Burden) Richardson Mitchell. Also preceding her in death was her step-father, Stephen Mitchell. She was united in marriage on February 8, 1947 to Russell J. Newton who passed away November 11, 2002. Catherine was employed at the former Commercial Filters and Dauby Department Store in Tell City. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church. Catherine volunteered for many years at the Harvest House and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Cooper, Garden Grove, California, five sons, Richard ""Rick"" Newton, Tell City, Indiana, Russell Newton, Jr., Cannelton, Indiana, Dr. Carl Newton, Indianapolis, Indiana, Glenn Newton, Menifee, California, Joseph Newton, Hendersonville, Tennessee, one sister, Hilda Anderson, Cannelton, Indiana, fourteen grandchildren, Debra Shutz, Lane Cooper, Melissa Schoeck, Lisa McKinney, Nena Rice, Megan and Aaron Newton, Jennifer Heinrich, Laura Mansell, David and Hallory Newton, Bronwyn Miller and Daniel and Nicholas Newton. She has seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM EST Wednesday January 4, 2006 at First United Methodist, Tell City with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Gil Hubbard will officiate. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Tuesday and 8-9:30 AM Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana.
