Tell City, Indiana Casper L. "John" Etienne, 85, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 at his home. He was born August 20, 1929 in Mount Pleasant, son of the late Michael and Ida (Goffinet ) Etienne. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Irene Throop and brothers, James, Linus and Justus Etienne. Casper was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Glenda Sprinkle, April 7, 1956 at Sacred Heart Church in Magnet. Casper retired from Southwire Aluminum in 1991. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Glenda Etienne; daughters, Susan King (Kevin), Derby and Sarah Wheatley (Jim), Tell City; sons, Randy Etienne (Barbara), Tell City, Denny Etienne, Tell City and Scott Etienne (Kenlee), Cornville, AZ; sisters, Marcella Ward, Magnet, and Elsie Flamion, Leopold; brother, Ivo Etienne (Mary), Tell City; nine grandchildren, Amie Kucy, Bryan, Jeffrey and Jordan Etienne, Dane, Katie and Trent Wheatley and Trevor and Lucas King and two great grandchildren, Blake and Bryce Kucy with another great grandson on the way, along with many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Thursday, January 15, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial in St. Mary Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post #213. Rev. Dennis Duvelius will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday and from 8:30 until 9:30 AM Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or Gentiva Hospice.
