Caroline Johnson

July 17, 1975 — July 22, 2024

Tell City, Indiana

On Monday, July 22, 2024, our Sweet Caroline passed away after three hard fought months of cancer.

Caroline Johnson, 49, was born on July 17, 1975, to the late Dallas Duke and Rebecca “Becky” (Bernardi) Appiarius.

She was a 1993 graduate of Tell City High School. She was united in marriage on December 23, 2002, in a private ceremony to Scott W. Johnson, her true partner in crime…until their daughter Bailee Jo came along.

Bailee was Caroline’s pride and joy and were truly best friends. Caroline’s heart was full of love, empathy, giving and just a touch of sarcasm. To know her was to love her. She never met a stranger but if she did, by the end of the day they were Facebook friends. Her sense of humor was truly special and guaranteed to cheer anyone up, even on their worst days.

She enjoyed camping with her family and visiting Niagara Falls, not once but three times and was a Women’s State Dart and Pool Champion. Caroline could be found on her front porch every morning, drinking her coffee and people watching with her dog, Bella. However, what Caroline loved to do was help people. She and her family would spend many holidays volunteering for the Council on Aging. She gave quietly, never wanting anything in return.

Caroline was a bartender for 15 years at The Round Up in Troy. She absolutely loved her job and the people she worked with as they were not just co-workers and bar patrons; they were her family. Yearly, she looked forward to the annual “Talk Derby to Me” day and fish fry.

Surviving is her husband of 22 years, Scott Johnson; daughter, Bailee Jo Johnson; siblings, Bobbi Jo Ridener (“Pooh”), LeeAnna Greider (Bill), Glen Duke, Julie Cronin (Rick) and Darlene Myher (Don); nephew, Bryce Ridener and wife Whitney and their daughter, Ivy Kate and several other nieces and nephews and her dear friend, Lisa Davis.

Preceding her in death were her parents; stepfather, Gene Appiarius; brother, Donnie Duke and lifelong friends, Tracy Anderson and Kathy Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Pastor Dan Hopkins will officiate, with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 PM and Thursday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.

Because Caroline lived her life giving, in lieu of flowers, she asked that memorial contributions be given to Perry County Council on Aging or River’s Edge Animal Shelter.

While visiting with us at the funeral home, feel free to dress casual or wear your "Caroline's Fight " T-shirt as we will still fight for Cervical Cancer Awareness.

Condolences and memories may be shared at huberfuneralhome.net
