Carl J. Stapleton, 87, passed away July 16, 2017 at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Knifely, Kentucky October 17, 1929, son of the late Robert "Pappy" and Maudella Stapleton. Also preceding him in death were daughters, Nancy Brown and Carla Branaman, sons, Michael Stapleton and Danny Bailey, sisters, Edith, Cecilia Mae, Doris, Irene, Fanny and Opal, and brothers, Bill and Dempsey. A U.S. Army veteran, Carl was a member of First Baptist Church in Cannelton, and had been a boilermaker until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was especially fond of his dog, Lula Bell. Carl is survived by his wife, Norma (Terry) Stapleton, daughter, Jane Markham, Fort Ritner, Indiana, sons, Rick (Stephanie) Tidd, Owensboro, Kentucky and Marvin Tidd, Evansville, Indiana, brother, Raymond "Jody" Stapleton, Fort Ritner, Indiana and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery, where there will be military graveside rites conducted. Darren Gibbs will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and from 9:00 AM until service time Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church's Vision Fund.
