Tell City, Indiana Robert L. "Bob" Goffinet, 87, passed away, peacefully, on July 14, 2021, at his home. He was born in Leopold on November 12, 1933, son of Alice Leona (George) and Leo Francis Goffinet. Bob was a 1952 graduate of Oil Township High School and United States Army veteran. He was an insurance agent for 37 years, associated with Preston Minor Agency, formerly in Cannelton and Zoercher Insurance Agency, retiring in 1998. Bob was always active in his community and was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Hoosier Heights Country Club, Loyal Order of Moose, and American Legion Post #213. He was a former member of Tell City and Cannelton Jaycees, where he was 1961 Outstanding Tell City Jaycee, Cannelton Historical Society, Independent Insurance Agents of Perry and Spencer Counties, Independent Agents of Indiana, Perry County Society of Crippled Children and Adults board member, Cannelton Kiwanis and Perry County Young Democrats. Bob enjoyed playing golf, playing cards, fishing and hunting, especially rabbit, squirrel and mushrooms. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to mow grass. He and Mary Rita hosted many gatherings at "The Shack". Bob will always be remembered for his story telling, jokes and restoring his 1947 Mercury Coupe. He may be most fondly remembered for having a martini in his hand. Surviving are his children, Jonathan Goffinet (Ginger), Nicholas Goffinet (Mikki) and Lisa Miller (Scott), all of Tell City; a sister, Jean Thomas, Tell City; brothers, Bill Goffinet (Dolores), Carroll Goffinet (Brenda) and Joe Goffinet (Mona), all of Tell City; grandchildren, Will and Beau Goffinet, Sydney, Katie and Taylor Goffinet, Maryann and Ella Miller and his beloved dog and sidekick, Frankie. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary Rita (Smallwood) Goffinet, on April 9, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Rev. Stephen Donahue will officiate. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00-7:00 PM and after 9:00 AM on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association or St. Elizabeth/Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Services.
