Robert A. Gibson, 94, passed away on December 12, 2023, with his family at his side.
He was born in Leopold on February 8, 1929 to James “Victor” and Clara Mary (Evrard) Gibson.
Bob was a 1947 graduate of Oil Township School and soon married Roseanna L. Saddler on May 14, 1947 at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
He retired after 30 years from General Electric Appliance Park in Louisville where he was an inspector. He had also worked as a carpenter, harvested produce and made honey for local farmer’s markets, and he enjoyed sharing it with family and friends. If you drove by his home, you were sure to notice his love of purple martins as he had many martin boxes on his property along with his apple orchard.
He loved to play music for festivals, state parks events, friends who resided in nursing homes and as recent as last week, host music groups at his home where he would play his mandolin, always sharing dessert afterwards.
