Cannelton, Indiana Betty J. Richey, 85, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2016. She was born in Ireland, Indiana, June 19, 1931, daughter of the late Leo and Bertha (Krodel) Weidenbenner. Betty was a 1949 graduate of Ireland High School and received her cosmetology license from Tri State Beauty College in Evansville. On September 20, 1958, Betty was united in marriage to Curtis R. Richey, Jr. at Our Lady of the Springs in French Lick, IN. They were married for 58 years. She had worked at Jasper Seating, Perry County Welfare Office, and then becoming a full time homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and Harry G. Myers American Legion Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her roses. She loved to shop, dance and spend time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Curtis R. Richey, Jr., Cannelton; children, Roberta Hafele (Tim), Santa Claus, Ryan Richey (Debbie), Tell City, Robert Richey, Cannelton and Rita Braun (Jeff), Hawesville, KY; grandchildren, Emily Hafele, Philip Hafele (Melissa), Matthew Richey (Lori), Tyler Richey, Samantha Braun (Cody Gaynor) and Nolan Braun; great-grandchildren, Jace and Jera Hafele, Stratton, Stella, Stone and Scarlett Richey and Landon Gaynor and a cousin, Gary Leistner (Ruthie) of Dubois, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 PM Thursday, October 6, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Rev. Sengole Thomas G officiating, with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday and from 10:00 until 11:30 AM Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Cannelton Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, American Kidney Foundation or a favorite charity.
