Cannelton, Indiana - Betty J. Bowman, 85, passed away on June 15, 2015, in Valrico, Florida. She was born in Spencer County on December 6, 1929. Her parents were the late Oliver Storm and Carrie (Aders) Brock. Also preceding her in death was her husband, John Bowman, great granddaughter, Bria Newton, brothers, Ralph and Tom Storm, half-brother, David Brock, sisters, Irabell Storm, Deloris McCallister, Katherine Jellison, Violet Hauser, and Mary Hall Burns . Betty was united in marriage to John Bowman March 1, 1947. They were married for 66 years before he passed away. She was a member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #2939 in Tell City and Strawberry Ridge Ladies Auxiliary in Valrico, Fla. A homemaker, Betty was a spiritual woman who was devoted to her family. She babysat every one of her grandchildren and great grandchildren until they entered school. She enjoyed flower gardening, and ceramic painting. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Palmertree (Noel), Valrico, Florida and Pam Newton (Jim Smyth), Tell City; sister, Sarah Kieffer, Mount Vernon; brother, Arlie Hiram Brock of northern Indiana; grandchildren, Dawn Snyder (Mark Trambaugh), Amy Lumpkins (Freddie), Jayson Sandage (Samantha), John Mark Newton (Audrey Mehling), Brad Newton (Brandy) and Stephanie Newton; great grandchildren, Drew Snyder (Savannah), Kyle Snyder (Emily) and Bryce Newton; great great grandchildren, Camdyn Snyder and Benjamin Snyder and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, June 22, 2015 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with burial in New Cliff Cemetery. Pastor Paul Alvey will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM Sunday and from 12:00 until 2:00 PM Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association.
