Tell City, Indiana Bessie K. Spencer, 89, of Grandview, Indiana passed away Friday, October 24, 2008 at Miller's Merry Manor in Rockport. Bessie was born May 5, 1919 in Calhoun, Kentucky, daughter of the late Levi Burden and Lula Abney Burden. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Chester in 1994, two brothers, Isiah and Hugh Burden, five sisters, Viola Young, Nelie Huff, Katie Jenkins, Frances Daugherty and Ada VanHoosier. Bessie was employed for eleven years at General Electric until 1957. The family later moved to North Carolina where she graduated from cosmetology school. An accomplished artist, she loved to paint and had completed several paintings for her family to treasure. She enjoyed writing songs and poems, crocheting, was an accomplished seamstress and a wonderful cook. She was Baptist in her faith. Bessie is survived by three sons, Bobby J. Spencer and his wife Judy, Benton, Arkansas Michael Spencer and his wife Teresa, Branchville, Indiana Lynn Spencer and his wife Janet, Grandview, Indiana Three daughters, Betty Northenor, Warner Robins, Georgia Marian Bunner and her husband Bill, Grandview, Indiana Terri Phegley and her husband Jay, Rensselaer, Indiana Fifteen grandchildren Thirty-three great grandchildren Five great great grandchildren Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana with Dr. Jay Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Grandview City Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday and 9:00 - 10:00 AM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, Evansville, Indiana.
