Bessie Genet

Leopold, Indiana

Bessie C. Genet, 97, passed away on January 28, 2025, at her home in Leopold. 

She was born on December 20, 1927, to the late Charles and Gertrude (Wheatley) Goffinet. 

Bessie was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where she and her husband, Julius, were caretakers of the church cemetery for many years. Bessie enjoyed quilting, cross stitching and looked forward to putting out a garden every spring with Julius. 

Surviving are her children, Darlene Hagedorn, Shellia Shearn (Tom) and Terry Genet; a sister, Martha Genet; grandchildren, Brett Hagedorn (Carol), Chris Hagedorn, Eric Shearn and Evan Shearn and great grandchildren, Emily and Kyle Hagedorn, Carlie Hagedorn and Noah Shearn.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Julius Genet, in 2011; a daughter in infancy, Charlene; her parents; and siblings, Marie Jarboe, Theresa Mallory, Hazel Kieser, Raymond, Vernie, Leonard, Herman and Dewy Goffinet.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Rev. Luke Waugh officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00-6:00 PM and Thursday from 9:00-10:15 AM at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. 

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Church Cemetery Fund or Central Perry Volunteer Fire Department.
