Bertha Bryant

Rome, Indiana Bertha C. Bryant, 70, missing since July 31, 2002, was recovered from the Ohio River on November 19, 2004, at Rome, Indiana. Bertha was born in Perry County near Deer Creek on January 23, 1932, daughter of the late Jesse Hammack and Amanda (Cook) Hammack. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Hudson ""Hud"" Hall and James D. Bryant, two great grandchildren, Austin Bryant and Haleigh Sipes, four brothers, Edwin, Ernest, Paul and Jesse ""Shot"" Hammack and one sister, Marjorie Hammack. Bertha retired from General Electric in Tell City after thirty-eight years, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939Auxiliary . She was an avid euchre player and loved flowers and quilting. She is survived by four daughters, Bobby Jean Bryant, Grandview, IN, Brenda Sue Sims, Cannelton, IN, Darla Jane Murphy, Grandview, IN, Carolyn Ann Whitehead, Rome, IN, one step-son, James S. Bryant, Grandview, IN, two step-daughters, Margaret Denu, Birdseye, IN and Susan Ubelhor, Bristow, IN, two brothers, Thomas Hammack, Tell City, IN, Harold Hammack, West Lafayette, IN, two sisters, Erma Leah Sommer, Cannelton, IN and Irene Albin, Tell City, IN, twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM EST Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana with burial in Wegenast Cemetery at Rome, Indiana. Pastor Sharon Summers will officiate. Visitation is from 4-8 PM Monday and 9-11 AM Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home.
