Barbara Kay Gaynor, 72, passed away on March 4, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
She was born on August 16, 1952, daughter of Hugh and Francis (Huff) Freeman.
Barbara was a 1970 graduate of Cannelton High School where she was in the marching band. She was united in marriage on November 4, 1972, to Michael E. Gaynor.
A preschool teacher, Barbara taught at Tell City First United Methodist Church, St. Paul’s Daycare and Rise and Shine Preschool at Union Baptist Church.
She enjoyed playing piano, watching murder mystery movies, reading Agatha Christie novels, playing cards and games and every morning she would study and read scripture.
Barbara attended Walnut Memorial Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Mike Gaynor; children, Jason Gaynor (Angel), Jarrod Gaynor (Lyndsay), Katie Midkiff (John) and Caelum Gaynor (Sarah); 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Etta Jean Glenn.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM CST on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel with Pastor Travis McGowan officiating. Burial will follow in Serenity Hills Cemetery, Hawesville, KY.
Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00-7:00 PM and Saturday from 8:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
