Bainbridge Phelps

Evansville, Indiana Bainbridge "Bain" Phelps, 85 passed away on January 17, 2018 at the Protestant Home in Evansville. Born on April 14, 1932 in Cannelton, Indiana, he was the son of the late Della (Southwood) Phelps. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Roma Lee (Brown) Phelps in 2013. Bain lived most of his life in Evansville where he was employed at General Foods for 35 years and served on several engineering organizations during his career. He retired at the early age of 56 and spent many winters with his wife, Roma in Fort Meyers, Florida. He enjoyed boating on the Ohio for many years and served as President of Inland Yacht Club. Most recently, he spent most of his day sitting on his "back porch" addition he built, smoking a cigar with his beloved dog "lil junior "on his lap. He is survived by his children, Brenda Phelps of Evansville, Brian Phelps (Nancy) of Evansville, and Bridgette Martin (Jack) of Pensacola, Florida; grandchildren, Brian Phelps II, Chandler Meyer-Brown (James), Jason Martin, Ashley Greenwell (John); great- grandchildren, Abigail Phelps and Elijah Pike. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CST on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City, Chapel. Pastor Eddie Olberding will officiate. Burial will follow in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
