Mt. Pleasant, Indiana Arthur Michael Middleton, 71, of Mt. Pleasant, Indiana passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 1, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana with his family at his side. A native of Jeffersonville, Indiana, he was born June 11, 1936, son of the late James Arthur & Elizabeth Raidy Middleton of Jeffersonville, Indiana He was also preceded in death by a step-brother, Jimmy, a brother, Timmy and a sister, Ann (Jack) Vissing. Art was a graduate of Jeffersonville High School Class of 1954, where he was a Flying Red Devil with the football team which won him a football scholarship to Salem College in Salem, West Virginia. He worked for Southern Railroad in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky before residing in Tell City. He then worked at Alcoa until retirement. An avid BMW motorcyclist, he made his first trip to the motorcycle nationals in Florida when he was a junior in high school. He was noted for riding his BMW's to work at Alcoa in all seasons of the year. He and his wife have also traveled through much of the United States on their motorcycle. Art has won numerous BMW motorcycle awards for high mileage, longest ride or oldest rider each year. He has BMW friends in every state! Art is now riding that great blue highway in the sky. He was also a great advocate for organ/tissue donation. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 52 years, Elizabeth (Betty) Anne Middleton of Mt. Pleasant, Indiana, two daughters, Mary Anne James Tinnell and her husband Bobby of Louisville, Kentucky, Angela Michele Middleton of Nashville, Tennessee, his beloved grandchildren, Jessica Michele James and Evan Lloyd James of Louisville, Kentucky, one brother Pat Middleton of Memphis, Indiana. He has several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held with a Mass at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold, Indiana at 10:00 AM CST on Wednesday, July 4, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Barnabas Gillespie O.S.B. will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday and 8:00 until 9:30 AM Wednesday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana where a parish prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates in Louisville, Kentucky or Indiana Donor Affiliates in Indianapolis, Indiana, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
