Tell City, Indiana Antoinette Saalman, 92, passed away at 4:45 PM Friday, November 13, 2009, at Oakwood Health Campus. She was born in Leopold, Indiana on May 1, 1917, daughter of the late John Joseph Evrard and Elizabeth (Hauser) Evrard. ""Toni"" was a 1934 graduate of Oil Township High School. She was united in marriage on November 30, 1937 at St. Augustine Catholic Church to Marion J. Saalman, who passed away December 9, 1999. She was also preceded in death by a son, David Saalman in 1991, two grandchildren, Kristie Ann and Kimberly Lee Saalman, four brothers, Irvin, Leo, Joseph Jr. and Fred Evrard, three sisters, Olivia Taylor, Mary Whitfil and Frances Kennedy. Toni was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, Scrabble and cross stitch. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. Toni was affectionately known by her grandchildren and neighbor children as ""Grandma Popsicle."" No one was a stranger at her home and they never left hungry. Surviving her are: Daughters, Carol Moman, Tell City Sandra Karney and her husband Ron, Crown Point, Indiana, Jane Pund, Tell City Rae Anne Toothman and her husband, Dallas, Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Sons, Marion Jr. ""M.J."" Saalman and his wife Pat, Tell City, Paul Saalman and his wife, Donna, Tell City, Indiana. Sisters, Rosanna Gengelbach, Tell City, Indiana, Dorothy Saddler, Danville, Indiana. There are fourteen grandchildren, Tim, Debbie and David Moman, Don and Brian Karney, Scott, Patrick and Adam Saalman, Rob Bellucci, Andi Pund Jones, Lesli Pund Spinner, Nicholas, Jay and Allie Toothman. She has thirteen great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City, with burial in St. Augustine Cemetery in Leopold. Rev. Aaron Pfaff will officiate. Visitation is from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Monday and 8:00 until 9:00 AM Tuesday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th Street, Tell City, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or St. Augustine Catholic Church. Messages of condolence may be left for the family at www.huberfuneralhome.net.
