Tell City, Indiana –
Anona Mae Lawson, 76, passed away on November 6, 2024, at Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky, surrounded by her family.
She was born in Tell City on January 27, 1948, daughter of Russell and Flora (Kellems) Terry.
Anona worked most of her life as an LPN and home health aide. She enjoyed reading, working puzzle books and listening to gospel music and Billy Graham. She adored animals and loved taking care of them as she helped to start the Humane Society in Perry County.
Coming from a big family and having one of her own, Anona enjoyed visits from her children and spending time with all her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Johney Lawson, Jr., Tell City, Christian Lawson, Terri Lawson, Phillip Lawson, all of Lewisport, KY and Rachel Schneider, Hawesville; daughter-in-law, Ashley Burman, Evansville; brothers, Edward Terry and John Terry; sisters, Margary Loper, Ollie Hobbs and Sharon Willliams; grandchildren, Samarah Schneider, Heaven and Kaden Lawson, Tyler Burman, Wesley and Bryan Claise and Rene Cronin; great grandchildren, Aza Patterson, Nolan and June Rapier, Layla and Braden Claise.
Anona’s family would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Western Kentucky and the nurses, staff and Respite Care at The Heartford House, for the care that was given to their mother.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Johney Lawson, Sr. in 2013; a son, David Lawson and brothers, Phillip, Andrew, Kenneth, Richard and Michael Terry.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CDT on November 11, 2024, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Brother Harry McDonald will officiate. Burial will follow in Lilly Dale Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Heartford House of Owensboro or Hancock County Senior Services.
