Lucille Mathena, 92, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at Brickyard Healthcare-Brentwood in Evansville. She was born November 20, 1930 to William "Mose" and Vadie E. (Sanders) Weedman in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. Lucille was a 1949 graduate of Troy High School. She worked for Hydro-Tex, formerly in Cannelton and Tell City Chair Company for several years. She was a member of Custer Church of God in Custer, Kentucky. Lucille was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she formerly served as president. She also held the title of Kentucky Colonel. Lucille enjoyed playing euchre and cards, working puzzles, reading, cooking, camping, and traveling out west. Surviving are her children, Faye Schwartz (Denny), Dale Dixon (Julie) and Bryan Dixon (Diane), all of Rome; step children, Dougie Mathena, Tina Nathan and Gene Mathena, all of Hydaburg, Alaska; sister, Wanda Kellems, Tell City; brother, Melvin Weedman (Judy), Newburgh; grandchildren, Beth Spencer (Josh), Brandi Hess (Ryan), Tonya Marsh, Shelly Reuter (Keith), Becky Ottman (DJ), Laurie Dixon; step grandchildren, Mark and Greg; several great grandchildren and a great-great grandson. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Doug Mathena and a daughter, Lajuana Cobb. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM CST on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Josh Spencer will officiate. Burial will follow in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, near "Goosetown". Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Huber Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Lucille.
