Tell City, Indiana - Rev. Alvin L. Wilson, 80, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at Oakwood Health Campus. He was born in Little York, Illinois, on October 27, 1933. His parents were the late Alvin L. and Henrietta (Martin) Wilson. Also preceding him in death was his wife, Charlotte (Delling) Wilson, in 2002, and a daughter, Ruth Ann Wilson. Alvin was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Alvin retired in 1996, as minister of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Bloomington and had served in several other churches, including First United Methodist Church, Tell City, during his forty years as a Methodist minister. Surviving are his daughters, Kathy Monticue (Kevin McClure), of Spencer, Sarah Wilson and Mary Billings (Clayton), of Tell City; a son, James Wilson (Melody), Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brittney Lock, Lauren Blake (John), Katlyn Braunecker, Chelsey Billings and Charlie and Benjamin Monticue; great grandchildren, Hayleigh Lock and Kinzley Blake; sisters, Anna Long and Dorothy Russell, both of Corydon, Linda Leffler of Elizabeth, Janet Plantz, Avon Park, Florida and Mary Brothers, Bardstown, Kentucky and brothers, Elmer "Sonny" Wilson and Jerry Wilson, both of Avon Park, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Tell City, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Rev. Lee Shepherd will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM until service time at church. There will be military graveside rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2939. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Tell City or Lighthouse United Methodist Church in Elizabeth, Indiana.
