Dexter, Indiana - Alma M. York, 93, passed away Monday, February 6, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Derby August 28, 1918 daughter of the late Preston and Mamie (Wilson) Badger. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Curtis W. York, son, Jerry L. York, brothers, Floyd and Herman Badger and sisters, Ida Gaither and Pearl Spencer. A self employed beautician for over 30 years, Alma had been a member of Crossroads Methodist Church and Rome United Methodist Church. She also was a member of Tell City Chapter #272 of Order of Easter Star and Daughters of American Revolution. Alma felt blessed to live where she did because she could enjoy flower and vegetable gardening and her love of nature. She made many quilts and enjoyed cross stitch and knitting. She treasured times spent sitting on her porch swing just visiting with family and friends who would stop by just to say hello. Alma was able to watch her grandchildren grow and have children and grandchildren of their own. She was proud to be a five generation great great grandmother with two of her granddaughters. Alma was a kind and gentle woman, finding happiness in the simple things that life had to offer. She is survived by a son, Jim York, Tell City; sisters, Ola Cassidy, Hatfield, Irene Miller, Owensboro and Zelda Hundley, Owensboro; brother, L.A. Badger, Hatfiel; grandchildren, Stacey Wedding, Steve, David, and Jason York, Julie Kemp and Katie Aurs; great grandchildren; Jennifer Roberts, Ashley Rudd, Stephanie Dupont, Cody, Jessica and Ty York, Jordan and Zachary Kemp, Olivia Aurs, Brendan Riddle and Dillon Kapp; great great grandchildren; MaKayla and McKenzie Roberts and Alaina, Christian, and Dawson Rudd. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Derby Cemetery. Rev. Andy Payton will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Thursday. There will be an Eastern Star memorial service at 6:30 PM on Wednesday followed by a Daughters of American Revolution memorial service at 6:45 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Derby Cemetery.
