Alberta Howell

Tell City, Indiana - Alberta R. Howell, 79, passed on Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at her home. She was born in Tell City on March 12, 1937, daughter of the late Albert and Anna (Harpenau) Dauby. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Louis Dauby. Alberta graduated from Tell City High School in 1955 where she played the flute in the marching band. Alberta married Marvin Howell on November 16, 1957, at St. Paul Catholic Church. She was the bookkeeper at Howell's Garage in Gatchel, for many years before her retirement. Alberta was a member of Gatchel Homemakers Club and enjoyed crossword and jig saw puzzles, reading, high school sports, IU basketball, and watching college football. She collected Barbie dolls. Surviving are her husband of 59 years, Marvin Howell; children, Wayne (Angie Marie) Howell, Tell City, Mike (Angela G.)Howell, Tell City and Mary Miller (Darren), Newburgh; sisters, Sharon Overton, Evansville and Emma Schipp, Jasper and five grandchildren, Jordyn and Jarred Miller, Jessie Howell, Jamie Roark and Dana Hubert and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Lilly Dale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 7:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Lilly Dale Cemetery.
