Albert Vogel

Tell City, Indiana - Albert F. "Al" Vogel, 96, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2013, at Horizon Bay of Louisville, Kentucky. He was born in Mandan, North Dakota, on August 31, 1917. His parents were the late Robert and Louise (Wohlleb) Vogel. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Esther Hoops and two brothers, John and Paul Vogel. Al graduated from Grandview High School in 1934 and from Purdue University in 1940. He married Helen Higman on June 29, 1941, in Lafayette, Indiana. She passed away in 2000. Al had worked for the USDA for 25 years and started Perry County Soil Conservation Service. He later retired from Tell City National Bank where he was an agriculture loan officer. Al was a 65 year member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, was a hobby farmer and enjoyed golf and fishing. He was a former member of Hoosier Heights Country Club and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge. Surviving are his daughter, Marilyn "Tootie" Peter (Larry), Louisville, Kentucky; son, Don Vogel (Ann), Santa Claus, Indiana; sister, Norma Bowen, Owensboro, Kentucky; brother, Jim Vogel, Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren, Scott Vogel, Ryan Vogel, Todd Peter and Lori Marks and ten great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Pastor J.T. Hills will officiate. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00 AM until service time on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ Benevolent Fund.
