Albert Flannagan

St. Croix, Indiana Albert S. Flannagan, 93, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at his home. He was born in St. Croix on December 22, 1917, son of the late Martin and Delphine (Bodart) Flannagan. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Helen Beck, Anna Ramsey, Agnes Brickner and Florence Flannagan and Eleanor Flannagan in infancy; brothers, William, Dr. Charles, and Martin Flannagan; great grandson, Dustin Faulkenberg and his first wife Helen Krieg, in 1942. He was a 1938 graduate of Oil Township High School and member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Albert married Mary L. Gehlhausen on August 28, 1944, at St. Martin Catholic Church. He was a lifelong Perry County farmer and retired from Perry County Highway Department in 1979. Albert enjoyed playing cards, throwing horseshoes and playing the fiddle. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mary L. Flannagan; daughters, Norma Lee Kovelesky (Al), Alberta Philpot, Gayle Faulkenburg (Wayne), Charlene Yates (Denny), Donna Johnson (Dow), Mary Jo Beckman (Mark), and Carol Jean Zellers (Denny) ;son, Larry Flannagan ;sisters, Irene Flamion and Christine Hawkins;16 grandchildren, Brian Kovelesky, Dean and Michael Faulkenberg, Theresa Collins, Patrick Flannagan, Pamela Williams, Angela Etherton, Nancy Villier, Charlotte Seals, Diana Bussabarger, Tammy Shepherd, Mark Persinger, Debra Hertel, Lacy Deom, Wesley and Dane Zellers; 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Aaron Pfaff and Rev. Guy Mansini will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 until 10:00 AM on Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery.
