Marieta Ress

Tell City, Indiana - Marieta C. (Paulin) Ress, 97, of Tell City, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Tri-Star Greenview Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Marieta was born in Evansville, Indiana on October 6, 1919, daughter of the late Joseph S. Paulin and Gertrude (Birchler) Paulin. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, John V. Ress, son in law, Abe Howe, a sister Jeanette Whidden and brothers, Bernard, Charles, Donald, Arthur and Joseph Paulin. Marieta was a graduate of Cannelton High School and was a lifelong homemaker. She and John were avid travelers and traveled extensively throughout the United States and 29 foreign countries. She was a long time member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Surviving are three daughters, Marjo Howe, Corydon, IN, Jane Kline (Lynn), Evansville, IN and Mary Farley (Steve), Franklin, KY; a son, Tom, and wife, Roberta (Thorn) Ress, Athens, AL; eight grandchildren, Jasin Howe, Sacramento, CA, Bridget Howe, Bridgeport, CT, Marjo Muir Wells, Sacramento, CA, Michael Ress, Fayetteville, NC , Sara Ress Wittenberg, Centerton, AK, Elizabeth Farley, Evansville, IN, John Louis Farley, Franklin, KY and Stephen Farley, Tampa, FL; four great grandchildren, Charley and Reed Wittenberg, James Ress and Amber Wells; one great-great grandchild, Alyssa Wells; and a brother, Edward Paulin (Jane) of Tell City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at St. Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Sengole Thomas G. will officiate. After 9:30 the family will be at the church to greet guests as they arrive to Marieta's Mass. Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel will be handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
